The flash and the honor

Gay Talese is one of the most famous Journalist in the world. He is a reference name of the "New Journalism", one way of writing with a dead line bigger than usual. It´s a way of telling notices almost like literature, just chasing some different aspects of the real fact. As he said, "I wanted to be a journalist without writing notices, I wanted to be a fiction writer writing non-fiction". Foo exemple, during a Boxe fight, Talese would write about the guy who rings the bell, the mother of the fighter who was blooding and people who is watching. Why not about the winner? Cause everybody could do it.

Gay Talese made a very nice profile of Frank Sinatra. He didn´t talk with Frank Sinatra himself, but he talked with a lot of people that meet Sinatra, everybody in a different way. "He didn´t want to talk to me, and I didn´t want to talk with him" said Talese. He describes a scene in the bar, where the singer is with two blond girls, and after write down one dialogue, betwen Sinatra and the writer But Ellison, very bad to Sinatra´s image, actually.

I meet Gay Talese at FLIP (International Literature Festival in Paraty - Brazil). He is an old man in age, but looks very young walking thrue peolpe with a pen in the right hand, read to sign his name is books and talk with fans. He is a very well dressed man, with his panama hat and dark blue suit. Talese and his hat were very easy to see at FLIP, cause he was participating of a lot of events.

I meet him during one of this events (sorry, I really don´t remember what author was talking in this event!) .
I saw him and he was alone. I decided run until him, before somebody else did it. So I walked til him, taked a deeply breath and said:
- "Hi, Mister Talese"
He turned to see who was talking and said:
-Yes?
- Can you please sign my book? It´s a great honor to meet you.
He looked into my eyes and said:
- It´s my honor young lady.
I was so happy! Just like a child caring a very special gift. At this moment, my friends get closer and one of them said:
- "Can we please take a picture with you?"
So, he just smiled and waited for the flash.
